Kindle Transfer

It is straightforward to email a Word (.doc) or PDF file to your Kindle and read it there. Not all the Kindle functions will work, for example the GoTo function, but it is an easy way to read a large file. Here are the instructions:

1.  Open Amazon and select Manage Your Content and Devices from the drop down menu at the top right of the screen.

2. This opens at a page titled Digital Content. However across the top is a menu of options. Click on Preferences. Scroll down to Personal Document Settings and click on that.

3. Scroll down further to Send to kindle E-mail settings. There you will see an email address associated with each Kindle device you have registered. The address will be  <something>@kindle.com. Make a note of this address.

4. Scroll down further to Approved Personal Document E-mail List. Amazon will only allow documents from a specified email address. So if you have not yet set up your email here, select ‘add a new approved email address’ and enter the email address you wish to use to send stuff to your Kindle. 5.  Now send an email to the Kindle address you noted, with the file you want to read as an attachment. There is no need to include a subject line or any content. The document should appear on your Kindle next time you are able to download content to the Kindle.
